Overview

We believe font licensing should be as simple as possible, and that prices should reflect the value fonts can provide. Our licenses are cross-platform, covering usage across desktop, web and app—no need to stack separate tiers. Pricing is calculated by company size: the total number of people who work for the Licensee (not the number of computers, users, or outputs).

Licenses are non-exclusive, non-transferable, and perpetual, subject to the terms below.
Intellectual property remains with Flavia Zimbardi and credited collaborators.

Women in Type

Women in Type is a feminist initiative led by Flavia Zimbardi, created to address gender imbalance in the type industry. It supports female-identifying designers by amplifying their voices, publishing their work, and fostering collaboration.

The first releases celebrating multiplicity launched in May 2023 with Ayaka Ito (Japan), Inga Plönnings (Germany), and Tida Tep (USA/Cambodia): three continents, three perspectives. In 2024, the focus shifted to the Global South, featuring Brazilian designers Júlia Lago, Ana Laydner, and Tassiana Nuñez Costa.

Trial Fonts

OTF and WOFF test files may be supplied on request. Trial Fonts include a reduced character set and no OpenType features and may be used for internal evaluation only.

Commercial License

Licenses are determined by the total size of the organization, including:

  • Employees
  • Contractors and freelancers working on its behalf
  • Subsidiaries and affiliated entities under the same brand or legal group
  • The applicable tier must reflect the actual size of the company, not the size of a single team, department, or project.

Project Status & License Scope

Each type family on this website is released under one of two project statuses, indicated on the product page and in the cart.

1. In-Progress
Some Fonts are still in development, following a version-based model. You receive access to all styles available at the time of purchase, licensed as a package, along with free updates while the project remains in progress.

2. Graduated
Once a type family is complete, it’s considered “graduated”. You may license single styles or the full family, which do not include future updates or expansions. If new styles are released later (e.g. italics, condensed), they must be purchased separately.

Add-Ons & Extensions

A license extension is required if you intend to use the Fonts to:

  • Produce merchandise or products for sale, including alphabet-or letterform-based items
  • Embed the Fonts in editable documents, products, or interfaces
  • Use the Fonts in products or services that allow end users to create, customize, or export their own designs (e.g. templates, generators)

Restricted Uses

You may not:

  • Redistribute, resell, sublicense, or share the Fonts beyond the Licensee’s operation
  • Use the Fonts in discriminatory, hateful, or harmful contexts
  • Use the Font Software to train, develop or enhance any artificial intelligence (AI) system, machine learning model or algorithm

Warranty & Limitations

The Fonts are provided “as is”. While we make a good-faith effort to fix issues when reported, there are no guarantees regarding fitness for a particular purpose. Flavia Zimbardi shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the Fonts.

Legal

This page provides a summary of the applicable licensing terms. Full legal terms are defined in the Commercial License Agreement (EULA). The agreement is governed by the laws of Germany, and any disputes shall be handled exclusively in Berlin.

We offer a 30% discount to individuals and companies living and working in countries classified as emerging economies (see list below). This policy is part of an ongoing commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and global equity in type design.
